While at ECU, Javier worked on a successful campaign for Congress, interned for the Bipartisan Policy Center, and served as a legislative intern in the United States Senate. He will begin attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill next fall to earn a Master of Public Administration. | |

Aida Isatta-Gladys Deen | Throughout my four years of undergrad, I have gained the opportunity to build lifelong friendships and memories. I have also been able to become extremely involved on campus through numerous organizations. Coming out of a lonely but inspiring COVID-19 year, I was able to join the ECU Ambassadors where I have enjoyed giving tours and serving as one of the friendly-outgoing faces of our campus. I have also been able to be apart of a like-minded community of minority women through my involvement as a member, volunteer chair, and now current President of East Carolina's chapter of Queen In You, an organization founded on the principles of scholarship, service, and empowerment of young minority collegiate females. Additionally, I have been able to grow a further and deeper interest in my chosen career field of law and politics through my internship at Ashley-Nicole Russell Law Firm in Greenville throughout this past year. East Carolina University has not only allowed me to grow my professional and leadership skills, but also given me ample opportunities to meet new people, network, and build lifelong friendships. | |

Justin Galhier Guthrie | Justin is a 20-plus-year veteran of the law enforcement profession and is currently the captain of the Pinehurst police department. he received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from ECU back in 2000 and is ECU through and through. He couldn't have done it without the love and support from his coworkers, friends, family, and most importantly, his girlfriend, who is also working on her master's at NC State, but that hasn't caused any fights yet (joke). He plans on working towards a chief of police position and possibly in public leadership post-retirement. | |
