Dr. Nancy Spalding (Ph.D., Binghamton University) is associate professor of political science at East Carolina University. Her research and teaching interests include political theory, African political culture, economic development and the second economy, and genocide. She spent a Fulbright year teaching in Nigeria, and has published in several journals, including Polity, Third World Quarterly, Studies in Comparative International Development, Journal of Developing Areas and Culture & Psychology.
