Keith A. Preble, Ph.D. is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at East Carolina University. Prior to his appointment at ECU, he was a visiting assistant professor of political science at Miami University of Ohio (2022-2025). He has also served as a postdoctoral researcher and research associate at the Center for Policy Research at the University at Albany, SUNY and is a researcher for the Project on International Security, Commerce, and Economic Statecraft (PISCES).

His research focuses on economic statecraft, sanctions evasion & sanctions circumvention techniques, proliferation and terrorism financing, and the role of economic power in foreign policy. His most recent book (co-authored with Charmaine N. Willis Ward), Trading with Pariahs: Trade Networks and the Failure of Economic Sanctions, was published by Lexington Books in 2024. He is currently working on his second book that examines how states resist the imposition of primary and secondary sanctions.
